Next-Generation Jobs Team:
Link to Your Tomorrow

About the Program:
Governor Nixon’s Next-Generation Jobs Team is an initiative to connect young people to careers in 21st Century occupations.  Its goal is to ensure that Missouri has the talented, highly skilled workers who are ready to compete for the jobs of tomorrow. The program is funded by the federal Recovery Act.  It will be available between May 1 and September 30, 2009, and some eligibility requirements will apply.

Community Action Agencies across the state, including Community Action Partnership of Greater St. Joseph, are coordinating the Next-Generation Jobs Team program. The Next-Generation Jobs Team will employ more than 6,000 young Missourians in paid summer internships and work experiences with cutting-edge employers all across the state.  It will provide much needed short term employment and invaluable on-the-job training for youth and young adults, ages 16 to 24.  For youths, the Next-Generation Jobs Team helps them “link to their tomorrow,” by providing real world experience in one of Missouri’s next generation of high-tech, high-growth jobs.  It lets them earn money and build skills, while experiencing careers in the exciting industries of the future, such as Green Energy, Technology, Health Care, Business Operations, Construction, Life Sciences and more.  For businesses, the Next-Generation Jobs Team allows them to help develop Missouri’s 21st-century workforce.  The best part is, we pay the workers’ wages. Companies connect with talented, motivated young people with an interest in their business while helping develop the next generation of highly trained workers for their industry. With our young Missourians trained, experienced and ready to go, our businesses will have the more highly skilled workforce that will help turn our economy around.
