Real Story: Jeffrey
Jeffrey is 16. He’s homeless. At one time, he lived in his car, and lately has moved from “couch to couch,” as he likes to say. He has been involved with the youth program at Community Action Partnership for 3 years.
“Being homeless is bad, but there are other kids out there worse off than me. I go to the library at night to do homework, but it’s a challenge to get it all done before they close. My dream is to go into international business, and I’ve been visiting and applying for colleges with help from Community Action Partnership. I want to help solve challenges for people across the globe and plan to be very active in college with the study abroad program and other groups.
Being in the youth program at Community Action Partnership is one of the best things that’s happened to me. They keep telling me I can make it, and then doing things to make sure I do. They drive me to events, go with me to visit colleges, and help me with the paperwork. They even helped me buy clothes to wear to an interview. They’ve helped me find a mentor. Now I’m working on a place to live.”
